WiPower offers design kits to enable engineers, product developers, and researchers to evaluate, design, and build wireless power systems for a wide variety of applications. It provides documentation in a simple how-to format that enables engineers without deep knowledge of electromagnetic principles or power electronics to create their own wireless power products.
A License to Experiment
WiPower’s Design Kit is suited both for Corporate Product Developers and Weekend Technologists. We encourage all users to test and experiment with the technology to see the current capabilities and future potential of wireless power. When you purchase your kit, you will also receive a license to use our wireless receiver technology royalty free. With this license, you can use the design documentation provided to reproduce the receiver, improve it, sell it, and experiment with it.WiPower does not ask for a royalty, but simply that you agree to license us any subsequent modifications on our design so that we can continue to enhance wireless power technology.Put simply, our goal is to facilitate the proliferation and growth of wireless power technology in any and all applications, and our role is to provide a universal standard that can evolve.
Design Documentation
WiPower will provide documentation in simple how-to format that will allow engineers to design systems without requiring detailed understanding or analysis of electromagnetics and power electronics. WiPower will provide access to application notes that provide design tips and solutions to commonly encountered problems.
One Wireless Power Transmitter
The WPT-A is a plug-and-play contactless inductive power transmitter for loosely coupled applications that features a highly efficient amplifier that is capable of supplying 15W of power to one or more loads with voltages ranging from 3.3V to 15V.It uses a standard 24V, two prong, wall-mount power supply. The WPT-A uses a novel power regulation scheme that does not require feedback from load devices. The regulation scheme eliminates the need for communication between a transmitter and load devices thus minimizing design time, receiver size, component count, and bill of material (BOM) cost. The receiver can be implemented with off-the-shelf components. The high frequency operation of the transmitter allows for minimization of secondary coil wire gauge, secondary coil cross-section, and receiver tank circuit components.
Output voltage 0.8V – 24V (Rx dependent)
Output power up to 15W
Insensitive to the position of the secondary coil relative to the primary coil
Multi-device support for loads with variable power requirements
Optimized for ultra-low, widely variable, primary to secondary coil coupling coefficients
No communication system is required
High switching frequency minimizes component size
Low noise transmitter minimizes conducted emissions, radiated emissions, and device BER
Current limiting and over-voltage protection
Power-save mode and automatic load detection
Thermal shutdown
Compatible with off-the-shelf receiver components
Compatible with a wide range of secondary coil configurations
Two Wireless Power Reference Receivers:Module, Module & Sleeve
The WPR-2.5A is a contactless inductive power receiver for loosely coupled applications. The fully assembled module contains a coil, shield, high efficiency DC to DC converter, and thermal management system to direct heat away from the device under charge. It is sized to fit a wide variety of today’s smart phones in skin-type embodiments. The module is capable of charging portable electronic devices, such as handsets, without exceeding 45C under room-temperature conditions.
Output voltage:5V
Output power:2.5W
Current limit:500mA
Built from off-the-shelf parts, no ICs
Module can be molded into a wide variety of hard or soft phone skins and protective sleeves
Rear facing contacts
High quality, medium hardness silicon skin designed to fit the Blackberry 8900
